Couples Relational Intensives
Has a cold chill swept into your relationship with your partner leaving you disconnected, confused, frustrated, and overwhelmed?
Relational intensives are helpful when our closest relationships need a boost of care, support, and attention. This intensive, experiential approach assists partnerships in eclipsing the egoic stuck points that appear as interpersonal conflict within our most treasured relationships.
Sometimes there is an intergenerational legacy we must become aware of and tend to, sometimes our past trauma ghosts show up in our current relationships, or life transitions and events can create chaos/difficulty seeing clearly (COVID is such a recent global event!).
Relational shadow work is designed to create space for and bridges back to our most important teachers/mentors: our partners.
Re-Connect, Re-New, & Re-Member why you chose each other to spend this lifetime with….
Our initial intensive includes gathering information and education on the science of polyvagal theory, and how each person’s nervous system may be playing a role in maintaining conflict.
We will also discuss the neuroscience of memory reconsolidation and how somatic, experiential approaches (like EMDR & IFS) can assist us in discovering the deeper wounds lying below the surface of the intimacy patterns you are currently noticing.
The following intensives focus on identifying and navigating the terrain of each person’s intergenerational trauma narratives, which create legacies of burdens we carry for unhealed ancestors’ of the past.
While we do this work, it is helpful to use the lens of the Enneagram to bring language to 9 basic archetypes and open space for deeper understanding of Self & others.
Once we have identified the core message and implicit beliefs of each person, how this affects the relationships’ health, and the habitual patterns you most want to be changed; we can begin to release that which is no longer working to allow space for new ways to relate from a Self-led, adaptive response to our Beloved.
After several years of working with individuals and couples for in two to four hour intensive sessions, I find that this intensive approach allows for the time and space to arrive together in the room, note any recent incidents that may be connected to the implicit myths creating difficulty/struggle/stagnant energy within the relationship, and provide space/time for experiential practices such as parts work/IFS or EMDR. Most importantly, time is held to re-regulate the nervous system following the practice, to ensure integration of what was examined can occur.
